Blog by Patricia Houlihan - Personal Real Estate Corporation | October 23rd, 2013

Thanksgiving is a wonderful holiday to spend with friends and family. But we all know that big family get-togethers can sometimes be stressful. To make your life easier this Thanksgiving weekend, here is a list of fun activities to do in Vancouver that will get your guests out of the house to enjoy some fresh air and family time together.

Granville Island Turkey Trot 2013

This family fun 10km run, walk or stroll is a great Thanksgiving tradition that supports the Greater Vancouver Food Bank with cash and food donations. This event is also a great excuse to burn off that yummy rich turkey dinner. Bring your friends, families, strollers, and kids, and make sure to register before Oct. 14th. Thanksgiving Day Public Stakes

If running, or walking isn’t your thing, how about trying skating for a fun family activity this long weekend? Many public arenas throughout the city are offering reduce rates for Thanksgiving public stakes. Check with your local skating facility and see if they have anything planned for this upcoming long weekend.

Fall Harvest Dance

Up for some toe-heel-claps and some do-si-dos? Check out the Trout Lake Community Centre’s Fall Harvest Dance. Bring the family for a fun filled evening of dancing to live square dancing music, while eating delicious hearty soup and fresh bread for dinner.  For $6, guests receive a hearty bowl of soup or stew, fresh bread, a beverage and a beautiful pottery bowl made and donated by the Trout Lake Pottery Club. Fort Langley Cranberry Festival

If you have access to a vehicle this long weekend, then this is the event for you! Fort Langley is celebrating its annual Cranberry Festival. The event starts 8:30am on October 12, with a Pancake breakfast on Church Street between Mavis and Mary Avenues. Over a 100 vendors will be attending and there will be lots of fun games and activities for the kids.  For more information click here.

With this list of events, I am sure there will be plenty of things to do with the family this upcoming long weekend. I hope you have a wonderful holiday, and if in the future you are looking for Vancouver real estate, please feel free to contact me at any time. Happy Thanksgiving!
