Vancouver homes and taxes!

Well today is the big vote at the City of Vancouver-to decide whether home owners will face an 8% increase in their property taxes.  For years commercial properties have been more heavily taxed and the proposal this year is not to increase commercial tax rates at all but to just increase residential.  Given how much more commercial entities (bear in mind this includes small, and sometimes only marginally profitable, mom and pop businesses) have had to pay historically, this may make sense.  However, given the issue of affordability for homeowners in Vancouver, this just adds a bigger burden to what they have to pay.....
