Vancouver Real Estate is exciting but the Olympic Triathlon may have it beat!

Blog by Patricia Houlihan - Personal Real Estate Corporation | August 20th, 2008

I usually restrict this blog to the Vancouver real estate market or issues of interest to those who are in this market or things that may be of interest to those in this market.  Only rarely do I feel compelled to discuss totally unrelated issues-like the amazing service at Mario's coffee shop-which is in fact somewhat related given that real estate is a service industry and we also strive to provide exemplary service.  So this blog on Simon Whitfield's awe inspiring, heart stopping performance at the Olympics last night is a bit out of character. Well except that the men's tri team did live at my Penticton house to train for the last Olympics so I guess I am a bit more interested in what they do                                          than I might otherwise be (and still not sure if I agree with Brent Mahon-the guy who kept all the guys at my house under control-having qualified for the Olympics not being sent because Canada decided it needed to send another athlete to tire the field in the swim and bike so that Whitfield would have a better chance...poor Brent-not really fair!).  Anyhow, even though I am one who prefers to do rather than watch sports, particularly tris, I couldn't believe how exciting the race was.  I NEVER yell at the TV; however I had completely given up on Simon coming in in the top three-to me he looked like he did when competing in Worlds in Mexico and burned out due to the heat (and at that time I thought that maybe he should have done what I did the day before and opted not to compete-he looked pretty darn rough!). If you haven't seen last nights triathlon-it is definitely worth watching....Whitfield came from off the back to run through the top three in the last 200 metres and only at the very end did the German athlete pass him for the gold (it must have been the foot of extra height the German-can't remember his name-had to push him faster with the ultra long legs) but what a performance for the silver-it really made the race. I can't wait to get off this plane and on the internet so I can hear his interview with Rick Cluff on CBC this morning.
